Modifying a Lesson Hosted on ScreenSteps Live Using ScreenSteps Desktop

ScreenSteps Live makes it easy to collaborate on manuals. When uploading a lesson from ScreenSteps Desktop to ScreenSteps Live you have the option of including a Lesson Package. Anyone with Administrator access to your ScreenSteps Live account can download the Lesson Package, import the lesson into ScreenSteps Desktop, edit it and upload the changes to ScreenSteps Live.

This lesson will show you how the process works.

Log into Your ScreenSteps Live Account

If you are not logged in as an Administrator then you will not be able to download the Lesson Package.

Load Lesson, Download Package

Load the lesson you want to edit in your web browser. If a package has been uploaded for the lesson then a link will appear in the left column. Click on the Download Package link to download the package file.

Locate Package and Import Into ScreenSteps Desktop

Once you have downloaded the package you can double-click it to automatically import it into ScreenSteps Desktop...

or you can use select the File -> Import... menu item and select the Lesson Package that way.

You Can Also Replace a Lesson

Alternatively, If you already have the lesson in your library you can right-click on the lesson in the Lesson Library and select Replace with Lesson Package in the contextual menu.

The Lesson Is Imported

A progress dialog will be displayed while the lesson is imported into your library.

The Lesson Is Opened

After importing the lesson it will be opened. At this point you can make any changes necessary.

Export to ScreenSteps Live

Once you have finished editing the lesson you can upload it to ScreenSteps Live again. Click on the Export button (1) and select ScreenSteps Live(2) from the menu.

Replace

ScreenSteps knows that the lesson has been uploaded to ScreenSteps Live before so you will be asked if you want to replace it. Select the lesson (1), configure the properties (1) and click Replace. The new lesson will be uploaded to ScreenSteps Live.
