Using the Sequence Tool

Introduction

This lesson will teach you how to use the Sequence tool. The Sequence tool allows you to quickly add numbers to an image. This can be useful for referring to onscreen controls or marking the steps in a sequence.

Open The Image Editor

Open the Image Editor by double clicking on the image.

Select the Sequence Tool

Select the Sequence tool from the left.

Click Where To Add a Number

Just click where you would like to add a number.

Add Additional Numbers

Continue clicking to add additional numbers. The numbers will automatically be added in order.

Delete A Number

To delete a number, choose the Select tool.

Select Number

Select a number. In this example we will select number 2.

Delete

Press delete on your keyboard. The number will be deleted. Notice that #3 has now changed to #2. The sequence objects will automatically update when you delete numbers.

Change Appearance

To change the appearance of a sequence object, open the Annotation Properties.

Annotation Properties

The Annotation Properties palette allows you to adjust settings for the sequence objects. The settings here will always affect the selected object.

Change Font Size

In this example we are going to make the numbers bigger. We change the font size to 18 and select Apply To All.

All of the numbers are enlarged. The circles will automatically adjust to accommodate the new size.

Change Background

By un-checking Fill and selecting Apply To All we can remove the background fill from the sequence objects.

You can use this same process to adjust the outline color, fill color, border size, opacity, etc.
