Turning Off Hardware Acceleration
Some users have experienced problems playing certain video files on Windows XP with Windows Media Player 11 installed. To resolve the issue you need to turn off hardware acceleration. This lesson will show you how to turn off hardware acceleration on your Windows XP machine.
Open the Control Panel
Click on Start -> Control Panel to open the Control Panel.
Open Display
Double-click on the Display icon.
Open Advanced Settings
Click on the Settings tab (1) and then click Advanced (2).
Set Hardware Acceleration to None
Navigate to the Troubleshoot tab (1) and set Hardware acceleration to None (2).
