Opening the Example Project File
Introduction
The purpose of this lesson is to get you up and running with MediaNotes right away. The easiest way to get to know MediaNotes is to start with the example project file. You can download it from the MediaNotes downloads page.
Enter Name and Initials
When you launch MediaNotes for the first time you will be asked to enter your name and initials. This is so that your comments can be tracked when you are collaborating on a file with other users.
Enter your information and select OK.
Select Open Project
Select Open Project from the screen.
Select Example File
Select the example file that you downloaded. It should have a file extension of ".mnpkg".
Choose Location For Project
The example file is actually a compressed archive. MediaNotes will automatically expand the archive but you need to choose a location where you would like to expand the project file.
On our system we have a "MediaNotes" folder in our "My Documents" folder, but you can save the files anywhere you would like.
Select a folder and select OK.
File Loaded
Your screen should look something like this:
1. Video area (this is blank because the first frame of the video file is black.
2. Video controls
3. Event Inspector
4. Timeline List.
These areas will be explained in more detail in this and subsequent lessons.
